How does a school do a famine?

The 23rd 30 Hour Famine is open for registration now. Students of junior high schools and above are encouraged to sign up for the DIY famine as a group. Explore your creativity and tie in with your planned school activities, such as a catwalk show, sports contests, an art event, or a concert. Teachers can also incorporate the DIY famine concept into their curriculum.

Each famine group is encouraged to set a fundraising goal to help feed hungry children around the world. You can collect donations from your friends and family who care. Use World Vision's credit card form, postal remittance form, or online donation to wire the money to World Vision. Official donation receipts will be given for tax purposes.

For primary students under the 7th grade and kindergarten students, skipping a meal is not recommended. Instead these young children can skip a snack for a day and learn about global hunger guided by teachers. Teachers and parents can also lead an alternative famine camp; kids can give up their favorite enjoyment for a day to save the money for making a donation, such as "I won't eat chocolate today" or "I won't drink a beverage today."
