■I'm glad our busy coworkers had a chance to do the famine in our offices. Every NT$100 we donated can help feed 4 children for 1 day. It's really worth it! We have been providing the public with a convenient channel for donations through the donation box at each of our 7-ELEVEN store. Judging from the increasing amount of funds raised every year, we know that Taiwan is a country full of love. As we give, we learn to cherish what we have now." -- Mr. C.J. Hsu, President of 7-ELEVEN Taiwan. (7-ELEVEN Taiwan organized an "enterprise noon famine" for 343 employees of its conglomerate, including 7-ELEVEN, Starbucks, MUJI, Mister Donut, etc.

■Everyone gives a little, and the hungry children will be saved." -- Ming-chu Lai, well-known translator for Japanese novels and member of Taipei Metropolitan Oil Painters' Association. (30 members of the Association did a famine by painting and donated their works for benefit sale.)

■"The enterprise noon famine is really an innovation that allowed our employees to be part of the movement during their working hours. Since the employees volunteered to do it, the bond between them and the company was also strengthened."-- Lu, Ke-wen, Director of High Tech Computer Foundation. (High Tech Computer Corp. organized two famines attended by 391 employees, who donated over NT$2 million to World Vision.)

Enterprise's employees can skip lunch on a working day and assemble at noon to learn about 30 Hour Famine by using the resources provided by World Vision. Such a 12-hour famine in the office is called"enterprise noon famine" (suggested hours: 7:00 ~ 19:00). Employees can also raise funds among friends and family to help fight hunger around the world. Those who complete the famine will receive a 12-hour famine certificate.

Employees are also encouraged to take the challenge to do 30 hours on working days and assemble either at noon or in the evening. A celebration can be arranged when 30 hours are over!

Food crises, natural disasters, conflicts, diseases, etc. all cause hunger. In 2008 World Vision Taiwan supports humanitarian relief projects in 17 countries including North Korea, Kenya, Southern Sudan, Laos, India, Afghanistan, and Mongolia, as well as families facing emergencies in Taiwan.
